Origami, another form of self-communication
I am a photographer. Every time my finger presses the shutter, it is a communication between my finger and the shutter. When my eyes capture the picture through the viewfinder, that is how my eyes communicate with the world. And when I was immersed in the process of origami, it was my whole-hearted communication with paper.
In the past artistic photography creation, I slowly began to get tired of taking beautiful photos. I have always wanted to make some breakthroughs in the process of visual art creation. By coincidence, I met the origami artist Floyd. His enthusiasm and dedication to origami made me interested in origami and opened a new path for my artistic creation.
I combined origami and installation art with new media art to create two works, "Alien Receiver" and "Singing Swan". When creating these two works, I gradually became obsessed with the process of folding. I was excited to watch different shapes of paper transform into various forms under my hands. At the same time, I realized that this is not just a communication between my brain, eyes, fingers and paper? In the process of this communication, I gradually realized that origami is another form of self-communication. So through this dialogue between me and paper, I derived another work "My Mother's Diary".
Folding, a seemingly simple process, is a baptism of the soul. I communicate with the camera, I communicate with the paper. Folding changed my attitude towards art and also changed my attitude towards life. Origami gave me new inspiration, and it made my art work more rich and interesting.
I am not only a photographer, but also a folder. In the following visual art creations, I will try more new possibilities. Origami makes my world no longer limited.
